Twenty years ago Kevin and Louie decided to write a screenplay together based on one caveat, "If the idea is still funny tomorrow, we will write it"
We've been laughing for decades ever since and now it is your turn.
Turn it Sideways!
EXCERPT FROM OUR BOOK:
-At which point Kevin throws his hands up and declares with impunity, “You can’t do that!!” What? Why not? “The KGB does NOT have naked pictures of John Wayne! NO!” Hmm. I still thought it was a funny bit, but Kevin was adamant. That joke was not going into the script. I tried like hell to save it, but he was not about to budge. So, I acted out the bit holding my legal pad as the file photo and said the first line. Then, I turned the legal pad sideways, and said the second line. To this, Kevin busted up with laughter and informed me that I could now keep the gag. What? Why? “Well, now it’s funny.” All I had to do was turn it sideways.
That one event inspired our comedy style over dozens of stories. Sure, we could dumb it down and do fart jokes, make fun of old people and push around bratty kids but no, we take cliches and turn them sideways. Not just 90 degrees but a full 270 degrees plus one. That's 271 degrees sideways.
